Petland is ranked in the top 10 percent of all domestic franchises.
The company's overall ranking in Entrepreneur® Magazine's
Annual Franchise 500 for 2007 was 192. Petland, Inc. also
achieved a ranking of 140 in the magazine's list of America's
Top Global Franchises.
"It's an honor for Petland, celebrating its 40th anniversary
this year, to be recognized nationally and globally as a franchise
leader in pet care services," said Petland, Inc. President
Frank Difatta.
In a competitive market with between 2,600 and 3,600 active
franchisors in the United States, Petland's overall domestic
ranking by Entrepreneur Magazine positions the company in
the top 10 percent of American franchises.
"We welcome this prestigious acknowledgement as it helps
get the word out about our dynamic franchise opportunity,"
said Petland's Franchise Development Coordinator Jim Whitman.
Both rankings by Entrepreneur magazine this year were significant
improvements from Petland's overall domestic franchise ranking
of 243 and global ranking of 183 in 2006. This year, Petland
is the only full-service pet store franchise listed among
Entrepreneur's Franchise 500 top retail pet franchises.
Currently, Petland is poised for growth as more and more
qualified franchise candidates look to the development of
their own business as the right choice for meeting their financial
and lifestyle goals. Specialty pet retailing is a growth sector
in our economy. Petland's unique operating system allows its
franchisees to fill a market niche not filled by the 'big
box' pet supply stores that focus primarily on the sale of
pet foods.
In conducting its annual rating of franchises in the world,
Entrepreneur considers numerous factors including financial
strength, stability, growth rate and size of the franchise
system. Other rating factors include number of years in business,
length of time franchising, start-up costs, litigation, percentage
of terminations and whether the company provides financing.
An independent CPA firm audits financial data. Every company
with verifiable data receives a cumulative score. The franchises
with the highest cumulative scores become the Franchise 500.
This year, Petland, Inc. also ranked 182 in the annual "Top
200" franchisors in the United States as determined
by Franchise Times magazine. The magazine
staff bases its ranking formula on similar criteria, specifically
system-wide sales and units.
